Melbourne VIC - On October 2, As the NGV Pharaoh Exhibition concluded, international students enjoyed an enriching free guided tour, organized by the Australian Working Community Policy Development (AWCPD) under the Art Harmony Melbourne project, with support from Study Melbourne. This unique experience provided participants with a fascinating journey into the grandeur of ancient Egypt, delving deep into the lives and legacies of the pharaohs. The event was an educational and immersive opportunity to explore the mysteries and magnificence of one of history’s most iconic civilizations.
The Pharaoh Exhibition Tour was a success, with students actively engaging in the experience, learning about the fascinating history and symbols behind ancient Egyptian royalty. Through the exhibit, participants explored the myths of the pharaohs, revisited their grandeur, and absorbed the cultural and historical richness on display.
Understanding the Mysterious World of Pharaohs —— The Mysterious Background of Ancient Greece
Before delving into the exhibition, NGV staff provided students with a brief but insightful overview of the history and symbolism of the pharaohs, setting the stage for a deeper understanding of the exhibit. This engaging introduction allowed students to interact and speculate on the exhibit’s artifacts, sparking curiosity and interest before they began their journey through the Pharaoh Exhibition.
Immersive Exploration of Ancient Egypt
With the help of dramatic visual effects and emotionally charged background music, the exhibition led students on an immersive exploration of the ancient Egyptian world. Divided into eight galleries, participants were free to wander and experience the power, symbolism, and faith of the Egyptian pharaohs firsthand. The exhibit took students on a 3,000-year journey, bringing to life the enigmatic and captivating world of ancient Egypt.
The Pharaoh’s Land
This gallery introduced visitors to the pharaoh’s role and function within ancient Egyptian civilization through an array of statues. It provided a foundational understanding before students ventured further into the world of Egyptian royalty.
Pharaohs' Culture and Beliefs
The remaining seven galleries explored various aspects of pharaoh culture, such as symbolism, family, jewellery, governance, and the pharaoh’s connection to the divine and the afterlife. With over 500 items on display, including magnificent jewelry, monumental tombs, and intricate sculptures, students were left in awe of the craftsmanship and artistic vision of ancient Egyptian artisans. These exhibits celebrated the extraordinary skill of Egypt's jewellers, sculptors, and artists, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.

The Pharaoh Exhibition Tour provided students with an enriching cultural experience, allowing them to immerse themselves in the artistry and history of ancient Egypt. The day was filled with memorable moments and deepened participants’ connection to Melbourne’s rich cultural offerings.
