Brisbane, 23rd September 2024 – The highly anticipated Yutong Green Travel Week wrapped up on a high note, celebrating sustainability and green transportation. Hosted from 17th to 22nd September in the heart of Brisbane, the event brought together leaders in eco-friendly transit, community advocates, and public officials to promote a greener future for the city and beyond.
Charles Hwang, Yutong’s Managing Director for Australasia, kicked off the week with a powerful speech, emphasising Yutong’s commitment to sustainable public transportation. “Yutong is proud to lead the way in green travel, not only in Brisbane but across the globe. Our electric buses are designed to reduce carbon emissions and improve city life,” Hwang said. He reiterated Yutong’s dedication to reducing environmental impact and driving innovations in public transport for a sustainable future.
Adding a community-centric voice to the event was Olympia Kwitowski, the Face of AWCPD (Australian Women and Children Protection and Development), who highlighted the importance of the partnership between Yutong and AWCPD’s “One Square Metre of Sunshine” program. “This initiative encourages families to grow their own small veggie patches at home, supporting both sustainability and healthier lifestyles,” Olympia shared, connecting the dots between environmental responsibility and personal wellness.
Stacey Thomson, well-known environmental advocate and emcee for the event, kept the energy high throughout the week, guiding participants through various interactive activities. Her engaging presence helped inspire the public to explore eco-friendly transportation options and take part in the city-wide initiative.
With strong support from the Brisbane City Council, the week-long event featured interactive booths, free gifts for public participation, and free shuttle buses showcasing Yutong’s electric bus fleet. The event successfully raised awareness around green travel options, encouraging citizens to take public transport and reduce their carbon footprint.
Yutong Green Travel Week was more than just a showcase of sustainable transport; it was a community-wide call to action, inspiring a shift toward greener, cleaner urban living. Yutong and its partners continue to drive the message that every individual’s effort counts towards a more sustainable future.
